STOUT STARS AT NEW YORK Pilots Three Winners Including Those in Dual Features Takes First Division of Hempstead Handicap HandicapWith With Miss Rainbow and Second SecondWith With Albania NEW YORK N T May 12 Jimmy Stout was the star attraction of a featureless card at Belmont Park today when he piloted three of the winners including those in the iwo best offerings the divided Hempstead Handicap scoring with Miss Rainbow in the first division and Albania in the second His other winner was the juvenile filly Gert B BThe The ride on Albania was the star perform ¬ ance when he brought the Bull Dog filly through on the inside to snatch victory from Dewey Benthams Abner Well back of the pair third fell to Twice from the Howe stable and it might be remarked that of his three winners Gert B was the only public choice choiceWith With pleasant racing weather a big crowd was out though the card was not up to the usual Belmont Park standard standardIn In the second half of the Hempstead Handicap Velvet Mask was the one to set the pace and in the early racing she carried Beefsteak along at a pace that kept him do ¬ ing his best and when the stretch was reached he tired badly Then Abner moved up strongly to challenge the pacemaker and after a sharp brush he took the lead In the meantime Stout was making up ground gal ¬ lantly next to the inner rail with Albania and Arcaro had saved ground with Twice and he was also moving into contention contentionInside Inside the final sixteenth Rose went to a drive on Abner but it was of no avail and the filly slipped through to be winner by half a length Abner had beaten Twice by five lengths and he in turn took third from the tired Velvet Mask by half a length lengthMISS MISS RAINBOW DOMINATES DOMINATES7The 7The first half of the Hempstead Handicap went to Miss K R Fondas Miss Rainbow Which dominated all the running with J J Morans Merry Pete racing to the place over Mrs Robert H Heighes Zay Sunport fin ¬ ished fourth fourthStout Stout who was scoring his second triumph of the day outguessed the others when he tad Miss Rainbow away to a good lead in the early stages while the others were taking back and Count Stone was off so slowly as to soon be completely out of the running Sun Fighter was the first one to go after the John P Grier mare but Merry Pete moved at the same time and he soon headed the Kilmer gelding to go into second place placeMiss Miss Rainbow was still clear as she swung Into the stretch and by that time Dubois Was working on Sunport but Merry Pete was hanging on well in his fruitless chase of the winner and he stood off the Sun Briar olt to take the place by a length but he was two lengths back of Miss Rainbow Then right at the end along came Zay with her belated move to also race by Sunport and beat him for third money by half a length lengthOPENER OPENER TO GERT B BGert Gert B the juvenile daughter of Micro phone now one of the good sprinters of the theEar himself carried the silks of Mrs Ethel Ear J Jacobs to victory in the opening five fur ¬ longs dash through the Widener course It was for platers and the Microphone miss dominating the race was ridden out by Jimmy Stout to score by two lengths over George D Wideners Mixed Weather while Milo Shields Orderly one that raced in Cali The finish was so close for the place that a photograph was required to make the de ¬ cision cisionA A claim of foul was lodged against jockey Balaski who rode Count Atlas for Mrs John Hertz in the final event of the day in which the son of Reigh Count led home her field by a short head Black Rhapsody raced to I the place while Good Flavor was third over Buttermilk owned by Mrs W Plunket Stew ¬ art The winner after racing close to the pace established by Good Flavor bore over sharply on the latter nearing the three sixteenths pole Good Flavor was under urging at the time as was Count Atlas The latter then drew clear but at the end was doing his best to stave off the fast closing Putnam starter which rushed up on the outside Following a lengthy interrogation by the stewards the foul was not allowed
