ATAVISTIC found racing room on the outside, reached the pacemaker swiftly, withstood a stiff drive when straightened into the home stretch and closed courageously to get up in the last few strides. WAR MOON had good speed to take command, saved ground all the way and fought it out stubbornly when caught. TIN DEVIL, gaining full stride slowly, finished with good speed in the closing drive but could not reach the leaders. GAY AMAZON was hard hustled all the way and raced well. PRINCE GALE came with a determined rush in the stretch drive. SAVANT raced strongly but could not engage the leaders. PALKIN showed early speed. BARKER began slowly and could not threaten. BALLY BAY displaced HALO after going three-eighths, "opened up a clear lead midway of the stretch, but failed to withstand the winner. LERNANA, slow to settle into stride, finished stoutly. HALO was hard ridden and had no excuse. MOONPENNY finished with belated speed. MORE POISE lost ground alLthe way. RED NOSE was well up early but failed to rail v. WINDSORS HOPE raced evenly. HAPPY CODE raced U-BOAT into defeat in the first three-eighths, bore out badly entering the home stretch, but was straightened quickly and drew out in the final eighth. DOG FLOWER, close up early, made a stout bid midway of the turn and saved ground when the winner raced wide, but failed to menace in the final issue. BECKY BATES improved her position on the outside from a slow beginning, but could not reach the first two. RAMBLER ROSE raced well, but could not improve her position. ROOM SERVICE was never dangerous. U-BOAT showed a good turn of speed for a half mile. JOLLY DUCHESS was held safe throughout. FOURTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Cavalcade, April 28, 1934 1:43 3 119. Won driving; second and third the same. GREENSKI, steadied for three-quarters while racing close to the pacemaker, came to the outside when shaken up at the final turn and closed courageously to wear down MISS OAK in the final eighth. MISS OAK, steadied in front until challenged, saved ground, but faltered in the closing eighth. FRANK BROOKE made a stout effort rounding the final turn and continued willing to the finish. ROYAL ERROR went to the outside when placed to a drive, but failed to threaten. MAEPOP could not engage the leaders BOOK READER was never a factor HASTINGS VIEW, away sluggishly, raced in dull fashion. STAR MINT quit, as did MADAME WALTER. Scratched 56448 Kai Sou, 110. TEMPESTUOUS had good speed from the beginning and held on well. CHALLEPHEN was steadied within striking distance of the leaders, but was held safe when placed to a drive. LITTLE TRAMP, caught in tight quarters repeatedly in the early racing, was taken between horses In the last three-sixteenths, closed gamely under strong handling and was under a vigorous drive to outstay BLOX approaching the finish. BLOX assumed command midway of the back stretch and fought it out strongly to the finish while saving ground. BROAD VISION, shuffled back midway of the back stretch when crowded, came to the outside and rallied strongly to finish gradually wearing down the first two. SARANITE had no excuse. PATCHPOCKET raced PLAYOFF into submission early, went into a clear lead, but tired after reaching the home stretch. MORRIS GRINER worked his way up steadily in the last five-sixteenths, but could not engage the leaders. GURKHA moved up stoutly at the final turn, but hung in the stretch drive. BLACK SCOUT finished with good energy between horses. FLAGSTONE trailed far out of contention and was unable to threaten at any time. LONGFUL would not extend herself. POMPEIUS tired badly when placed to a drive. PLAYOFF was through early. VOLDEAR tired. JOLYON was never dangerous.
