" ; : MARMITINA BRINGS TOP PRICE Mare Foals Chestnut Colt by Pom-pey Day Before Sale. E. F. Woodward, Owner of Valdina Farm, Buys Mare Consigned by Agent -,050 for Risenfly. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 26. Marmitina, a nine-year-old daughter of Light Brigade Marmite, which foaled a chestnut colt by Cohort, Sunday brought the top price of ,500 at a sale of horses in training, brood mares, foals and yearlings, held by the E. J. Tranter Company in the Keeneland paddock Monday afternoon. The mare was knocked down to Emerson F. Woodward, owner of Valdina Farm, after a spirited bidding duel with Henry Knight. It remained for another broodmare, Mary T., a six-year-old daughter of Upset and Drollery, with a chesnut son of Wise Counsellor by her side, to bring ,300, the next highest price. Marmitina was offered by Horace Davis as agent, while Mary T. was in the dispersal sale of Mrs. Charles R. Thompson. Risenfly, a juvenile daughter of Blondin Air Flyer, which has yet to enter competition and also offered by Mrs. Thompson, went to D. B. Midkiff, the most liberal purchaser, for ,050, and A. C. Ernst paid ,000 for Mary Terry, winner of the Clipsetta Stakes. Thirty-one horses brought a total of 4,-885, for an average of better than 00.
