long enough to stave off the bid of OTTOMAN LADY SARA was well placed throughout but was unable to reach the leaders under punishment through the stretch BLUE GROTTO loomed up threateningly on the inside the last seventy yards then held on willingly despite bearing out but just lasted OFF GUARD in nearest pursuit of PATAPASCO while the latter was establishing the pace raced to the front with a rush and despite holding on stubbornly was not quite good enough PATAPSCO gaind command in the opening eighth and was hard ridden while making the pace but was unable to go along with the first two during the last threesixteenths STEPACOLA away slowly and outpaced early closed an immense gap MYRNA LEE had good early speed but tired in the final few sixteenths ROSCOE unruly at the start was end SWEEPING FLAME was well placed and saved all possible ground only to falter in the last thieesixteenths NIGHT MIST closed some ground from a tardy beginning LIPTON was practically eliminated when
