OFFICIALS ORDER JAMES A BE RACED AS PLAY PAL LAUREL Md Oct 27 The Maryland State Racing Commission announced here today that it is convinced following a lengthy investigation that the fiveyearold James A is none other than the fouryear old Play Pal James A came to Maryland this spring from Florida as a maiden and this season has raced at local tracks as well as at Charles Town and Delaware Park for R L Hanna He is now the property of Tom Mott Sr of Washington and is in the stable of Matt Smart SmartNo No ruling has been made by the com ¬ mission other than the horse must be en ¬ tered under the name Play Pal and the matter of accepting the entry is up to the 1 racing association The commission has pic ¬ tures of Play Pal winning a race at Haw ¬ thorne in September 1937 and James A winning last spring at Havre de Grace The horses are identical according to the com ¬ mission except for a difference in the stars on their foreheads Veterinarians who ex ¬ amined the teeth of James A reported he was a fouryearold I fouryearoldI Hanna stated that he raced the horse in good faith but that when he nominated James A to stakes at Havre de Grace and Laurel they were returned with the in formation that he would be denied stable room He also was denied the same privi i lege at Narragansett Park Hanna said
