Ronnie Nash one of the best riders that ever showed his wares around a New England race track completed another of his nu ¬ merous triples this afternoon as he won the featured Greystone Claiming Purse astride W F Mannaghs Chief Nadi Nash who had put up one of the best stretch rides seen at the session to dead heat with Myrna Lee astride Oklab in the previous race had to ride hard once more to win the feature featureHis His horse was turned almost sideways when they left the post broke very slowly and charged up under a hard drive in the final yards of the race to take the purse At the end Nash had him just a slim nose clear of Mrs V Wyses Bachelor Dinner The latter according to Two Gun Browns stories to the dockers has not been on the race track for weeks having been at a farm The dockers however continued to put his name in workouts and he hardly ran like a horse that had been retired retiredBachelor Bachelor Dinner went out to set the pace with Cautivo after him Chief Nadi was well back as they went to the far turn but he began to gain around that turn and he caught the leader at the sixteenth post Once more Nash had to drive hard from that point and once more he proved himself equal to getting everything out of a horse that there is in him himIN IN LAST STRIDE STRIDEChief Chief Nadi got up in the last jump under a hard ride The track was officially fast for todays races although slightly dead from rains of last night nightW W E Snyders Ottoman a warm choice which was ridden by Ashcroft proved much the best in the opening event at six fur ¬ longs He was in tight quarters on the back stretch but once free at the sixteenth post he flew past horses to beat Goldman the pacemaker by a length and a half drawing off as he crossed the line Quick Action was third some two and a half lengths off the runnerup and three lengths in advance of Spanish Maid The winner finished out In 11254 11254Goldman Goldman went to the lead at once Otto ¬ man outrun was fourth and down on the rail as they made the back stretch drive At the far turn Ashcroft began to move on the outside At the eighth pole he was clear though taking a loss of ground and Otto ¬ man was flying At the sixteenth marker Ottoman went to the front and it was all over overMAJOR MAJOR B ALL THE WAY WAYMrs Mrs J Walkers Major B had an advan ¬ tage at the gate and led by a wide margin all the way to win the six furlongs event that was second on the program finishing two and a half lengths in front of Paul Kelleys Grape Vine after leading for that margin virtually the entire distance R W Collins Dona Montez was third a length and a half off the runnerup and Esprit was fourth Mose Merrill rode the winner which finished out in 1133 Major B was fol ¬ lowed most closely in the early running by Taut The latter began to fail at the six ¬ teenth post where Dona Montez moved into second but in the final yards Grape Vine swept up to take the place placeRonnie Ronnie Nash far and away the leading rider of the meeting piloted A J Halliwells Worthing to victory in the six furlongs event that was third on the card At the end Nash who put up one of his usual heady rides was a length clear of H Barnes OCleary A E Webbers Count Rae was third two and a half lengths back of the second horse Willow Wand finished fourth The time was 113 Baby Way broke on top but was rapidly outrun by the winner However Worthing was unable to draw clear and began to show evidences of quitting just past the eighth post He looked like no oddson choice at the sixteenth post but there Nash went to work in earnest as OCleary charged and he won drawing off offNASHS NASHS CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE DOUBLEGeorge George Odoms Oklab and R W Collins Myrna Lee passed the judges stand so closely locked in the fourth event that the camera was unable to separate them the official decision being a dead heat The race marked a consecutive double for Nash who was astride Oklab With a less ener ¬ getic stretch ride the Odom campaigner would have been well beaten for he lost the lead at the sixteenth post and was half a length back at the seventyyard marker Nash bore down with the whip and Oklab jumped up with each blow in the final fifty yards Marty Maddens Greedan was third JIaloncy was astride Myrna Lee and put up a stout ride rideEarl Earl Porter made amends for his defeat on Grey Count the other afternoon by giv ¬ ing E E Fogelsons Silvery Cloud a master ¬ ful ride in the one mile and seventy yards sixth which the Neddie mare won by a length Weekly Stipend with Ronnie Nash up finished second for Mrs S A Ketchell Scotch High a horse which suffered con ¬ siderable interference last out was a half length off the runnerup with Somali sav ¬ ing the place Nemont from the stable of Mrs W Hodson was made favorite for the running but failed to threaten seriously at any time timeThe The winners time for the distance was 144
