CHALLEDON SURPRISE IN NEW ENGLAND FUTURITY TIME ALONE UNPLACED W L Brann Youngster Accounts for 33410 Narragansett Stake Twenty Thousand Attend Despite the theCold Cold Weather Track Muddy for forRunning Running of Race for Juveniles PAWTUCKET R I Oct 29 W L Branns Challedon a horse which broke his maiden at the summer meeting here scored a stunning surprise as he won the 25000 added New England Futurity and a prize of 33410 this afternoon taking the richest juvenile race of the New England season The son of Challenger II and Laura Gal finished out two lengths in advance of Al ¬ fred Vanderbllts Impound and he overcame trouble to win the race Wheatley Stables Gilded Knight finished third a neck off the runnerup and some four lengths in front of T M Dorsett Time Alone shortpriced fa ¬ vorite ran a miserably poor race He set the pace under restraint was asked for speed by Tucker on the far turn and was found completely wanting dropping back and back until he wound up a wellbeaten fifth in the sevenhorse field fieldThe The day was cold but a crowd of 20000 was out to see the richest race of the au ¬ tumn season The track was heavy for the event which was run In 1464 1464Time Time Alone went away from the gate like a streak opened up two lengths around the clubhouse turn and was under a pull as he showed the way by that margin down the back stretch T M Dorsett chased him but could make no impression upon his lead leadSPARKLING SPARKLING FINISH FINISHThe The field began to move up to him on the far turn and Eddie Tucker let out the loops He failed to gain ground Challedon took him around the turn Seabo cracking down twice with the whip to bring him up He came from sixth place to take the van He kept coming At the sixteenth post he was drawing away as they kept dropping back behind him himImpound Impound ran a great race and might have been the best horse He stumbled and went almost to his knees at the start but was gaining at the end Time Alone was through once he was headed and dropped back until he was definitely eliminated eliminatedOlney Olney showed a flash of speed and retired rapidly thereafter T M Dorsett also had nothing but early speed Gilded Knight far back early flew from the stretch turn home and looked very dangerous at the eighth post when Time Alone was tiring The race was a true one aside from Im pounds accident at the start Time Alone had no excuse whatever The favorite was simply not there when they asked him for It
