DUSKY PRINCE REPEATS Creech Horse Wins Again at Good Odds at Arlington Park Talked About Again Disappoints His Followers Cossack Girl Big Surprise in Fourth ARLINGTON HEIGHTS 111 July 12 JRIrs A M Creechs Dusky Prince scoring Iris second straight victory over the local course sprinted the fastest seven furlongs of the meeting to win the Avondale Purse before a good sized crowd at Arlington Park this afternoon The racing strip was excep ¬ tionally fast today and in running the seveneighths in 123 he got within a sec ¬ ond and a fifth of the track record of 122 which also stands as a worlds mark Dusky Prince was ridden by Jack Richard and carried 116 pounds poundsf f While Dusky Prince was achieving his smart victory the Calumet Farms Talked About was letting down his large following The best this fellow could do was to run third second honors falling to R C Thatch ¬ ers Sun Plume The only other starters were Montsin which ran fourth Giles County and Al au p Feup Feu SETS SIZZLING PACE PACETalked Talked About also performing under 116 pounds set a sizzling pace but he never could take much of a lead Dusky Prince was after him right from the beginning and It was only when the Creech horse bore out entering the stretch that Talked About was able to get as far in front as a length and a half Richard quickly straightened up his mount and before reaching the furlong post caught the Calumet representative Once headed Talked About was through and Sun Plume had no difficulty beating him three lengths for second place The winners mar ¬ gin was a neck neckMontsin Montsin was in fourth position through ¬ out and was easily best of the others which trailed from the beginning The mutuel re ¬ turn on Dusky Prince was 1580 for 2 Skies became somewhat overcast in mid afternoon but otherwise the weather today was pleasant enough and the size of the gathering gratifying to the management of the track LARGE DAILY DOUBLE DOUBLEThe The possibility of another Daily Double payoff running into four figures loomed when the Millsdale Stables Janepola mak ¬ ing her first start took down the first event and paid 16280 for 2 in the mutuels One of the choices however J D Weils Perfect Rhyme accounted for the second to make possible a Daily Double return of 68320 a sum not to be overlooked either Both races were for juveniles the first for non nonwinners winners and both were contested at five and a half furlongs furlongsIn In racing to her victory Janepola han ¬ dled by J E Oros came from a good way back in the stretch and drawing away at the end scored with three lengths to spare Cooperstown captured second money as the favorite Eight and Six ran third after showing the way for about a half mile milePerfect Perfect Rhymes triumph was not so em ¬ phatic in fact she was up only in the clos Continued on thirtyfifth page DUSKY PRINCE REPEATS Continued from first page Ing strides to get a head decision under the urging of Alfred Robertson The Weil filly raced the early furlongs in behind Swing Queen which made the pace and Copin which forced it Both of the leaders tired in the last furlong and Perfect Rhyme out finished You Alone for the verdict In tak ¬ ing second place You Alone beat Copin a length while Swing Queen was another four lengths back in fourth place placeLADY LADY THIRTEEN SCORES SCORESThe The third race was a dash of six furlongs and it resulted in victory for Mrs F F Bur rells Lady Thirteen one of the choices in an open betting affair Aglow was second and Chubbins third Lady Thirteen accounting for her sixth purse of the year took com ¬ mand soon after the start and apprentice George Martin kept her there to the end where her advantage was one length Aglow was in hottest pursuit of the winner all the way and in finishing second beat Chubbins another length A casualty of the race was Chief Menteur which broke down so badly after completing half the distance that he may have to be destroyed He is the prop ¬ erty of Mrs A K Weast WeastThe The Hilltop Stables Cossack Girl came from last place to capture major honors in the fourth race a contest at seven furlongs and to enable apprentice Martin to complete a double At odds of a little more than 10 to 1 she won by a length and a quarter as Busy Lutrecia ran second and Alup third Cossack Girl began to improve her position after about a half mile and then came to the extreme outside which was pretty far out into the track as the leader swung wide into the lane to launch the drive which sent her across the line of finish in front Thread needle Alspur Alup and Masterpiece domi ¬ nated the early running but all of them gave way when challenged by Cossack Girl and Busy Lutrecia
