HENDRIE COLORS TO THE FORE Joss Stick Accounts for Hotel Ford FordPurse Purse at Fort Erie Fore ForeIsus Isus Is Second FORT ERIE Ont July 12 Joss Stick the threeyearold daughter of Dark Hero and Sweepstick racing for the stable of G M Hendrie carried the brown and yellow to their first victory of the Fort Erie meet ¬ ing in the running of the Hotel Ford Purse feature of the ninth day of the Fort Erie meeting Ridden by apprentice N Spine who is under contract to the Hendrie stable and who was making his first appearance in Canada under silks the Hendrie filly scored in convincing fashion and was three and one half lengths before the Cosgravo Stables Fore Isus at the end of the mile and onesixteenth Third place went to C Boyles Fair Elise which got up in time to take a nose decision before R W R Cowies Fair Wave for third place placeIt It was the second victory of the day for apprentice Spine in two mounts he having piloted Ucha to her victory in the third event eventAnother Another large crowd was on hand for the matinee while perfect weather prevailed with the track at its best bestOn On the lower turn Spine shook up the Hendrie colorbearer and she began to steadily increase her advantage and in tho run to the end increased her lead to bo three and onehalf lengths before Fore Isus The latter had moved to third place as she came to the stretch and through the drive wore down Fair Wave Fair Elise also closed well next the inner rail and was up to take third place by the narrowest of margins before the fasttiring Fair Wave
