PUBLIC LOOKS FORWARD TO AQUEDUCT MEETING MEETINGReconstruction Reconstruction Program at Plant Completed Nine Stakes Will Be Renewed at 21 Day Session SessionNEW NEW YORK N Y May 26 The Queens County Jockey Club will usher in its twenty one day summer meeting at Aqueduct two weeks from today Monday June 9 Al ¬ ready interest in this impending session is high among horsemen while the public also is looking forward to patronizing the course which lias been tronsformed into one of the finest and most modern in the country countryAqueduct Aqueduct which has been reconstructed at a cost of 1200000 will run through Wed ¬ nesday July 2 und it will be the final meet ¬ ing of the summer season on Long Island Presenting nu ly ne feat res and innova ¬ tions for the comfort of the public the popu ¬ lar plant is spic and span and all in readiness to throw open s gates gatesPresident President Theodore J Knapp has increased the added value of four of the nine stakes most important being that of raising the Brooklyn Handicap from 20000 to 25000 The others that were increased were the As ¬ toria the Great American and the Tremont from 2500 to 5000 added The nine stakes thus will carry added money aggregating 72500 an increase of 12500 over last year These fixtures lurecl a total of 502 entries one of the heaviest returns in the history of Aqueducts stake events As usual the most prominent racing establishments in the coun ¬ try will vie for honors while the leading thoroughbreds in each division will seek fame and glory during the meeting meetingThe The 5000 added Queens County Handicap for threeyearolds and upward at one mile and a sixteenth will serve as the inaugural feature on June 9 Indications are a strong and wellmatched starting field will be drawn from among the thirty eligibles listed In this the robables include Greentree Stables Hash and Corydon Col Maxwell Howards The Chief George D Wideners Eight Thirty Woodvale Farms Haltal Glen Riddle Farms The Finest Gustav Rings Ringie and Arnold Hangers Dit DitOPENINGDAY OPENINGDAY FEATURE The u000 added Shevlin Stakes for three yearolds at a mile and a sixteenth is to be the feature on Wednesday June 11 while the first Saturday program of the meeting June 14 will embrace the twin headliners of the 7500 added Carter Handicap for three yearolds and upward at seven furlongs and the 5000 added Astoria Stakes for two yearold fillies at five and a half furlongs furlongsThen Then Aqueduct will offer the 10000 added Dwyer Stakes for threeyearolds at a mile and a quarter and the 5000 added Tremont for colts and geldings two years old five and a half furlongs on Saturday June 21 21The The high point of interest in the meeting however will be reached during the third week when the three remaining stakes are to be decided These are the 5000 added Gazelle for fillies three years old one mile and a sixteenth on Wednesday June 25 the 25000 added Brooklyn Handicap for three yearolds and upwards one mile and a quar ¬ ter and the 5000 added Great American for twoyearolds six furlongs on Saturday June 28
