BELMONT DISTRIBUTION DISTRIBUTIONNEW NEW YORK N Y May 26 One of the largest purse distributions ever offered by a racing association was given out during the first half of the present Belmont Park spring meeting During the first twelve days up to and including last Saturday May 24 the Westchester Racing Association distributed among horsemen the very siz ¬ able total of 228235 This made the daily distribution 19019 and indicates that with the richer stakes and handicaps still to come the Belmont offerings to horsemen will again top the nation In 1940 Belmont led the country with a daily average of 23583 for its entire schedule which in ¬ cluded both spring and fall meetings It seems reasonable to assume at this writing that this former record will be surpassed this year
