the colors of Mrs Mary G Browning dropped a finelooking colt foal by Royal Ford at Top o The Hill Stock Farm It is lier first foal She will be returned to Royal Ford Newfangle twentyfpuryearold brood mare by Atkins Bessie Frank by Abe Frank has been retired to pasture for the rest of her life by Reynolds Brothers The mare had her last foal a filly by Lost Cause in 1940 She is believed to be the oldest brood mare in Texas Earl B Smith San Angelo owner and andbreeder breeder shipped his eighthorse stable to Churchill Downs and plans a Summer cam paign on midwest tracks Six juveniles sev eral of them homebreds are in the Smith barn Smithbarn and one a filly by Hygro Broomiola is especially promising Grey Gold good son of Sir Greysteel pur chased recently in Kentucky has been transferred to the Edward Rachal Ranch at Falfurrias Grey Gold succeeds the famed Upset as head of the Rachal Stud Upset died recently First foals of the stallion Sirasia son of Sir Gallahad III Anastasia by Wrack have arrived at W C Stroubes Melody Meadows near Corsicana Sirasia was re ¬ turned to racing this Winter in Florida after having been bred to several mares last Spring It is planned to retire the horse permanently after this season One of the bestlooking foals in Texas this season is a bay colt by Questionnaire Fur ¬ tive by Sir Gallahad HI which arrived at Valdina Farm on April 10 The U S Remount Service has more than 100 stallions stationed in Texas this being more than in any other state Included in the lot is Follow Thru a son of Epinard Mary Belle by Ballot which brought 36000 in the Saratoga Yearling Sales of 1929 and Aga Khan one of the best route runners of his day winner of a Lawrence Realization and other stakes earning 88660 Aga Khan stands at the Rahl and Woody Ranch Gold thwaite and Follow Thru stand at G C Brareales farm at Cleburne Marcabala a good winner in several sea ¬ sons of racing has been asquired by the U S Remount Service and has been sta ¬ tioned at successful young Pacific Coast trainer is another product of the days when racing was legal in Texas Molter be ¬ gan his career as a rider on the Texas fair circuit in 1925 He rode for the late Jack P Atkin for several years then purchased many of the horses from the Atkin estate and branched out as a trainer in 1937 1937Eleven Eleven of the eighteen foals which have arrived at Tulahteka Farm are by Sickle Albania out of Cristart by North Star III is the dam of Elbasan Jay Islam son of The Porter and she also has a year ¬ ling filly by the sanle sire Teddys Qutien by Teddy out of Croix Rouge also owned by Whitaker is there as is Quasimodo Whitakers former race horse by Leonardo II out of Ann Earn which has been re lired and ultiiriately will head Whitakers stud Ebelhardt who formerly was associ ¬ ated with J O Keene and has been with Howard for several years has Rockwood Farm In excellent condition and his mares are thriving
