ALLEN T SIMMONS Trainer Visualizing OneJwo in 1942 Derby for Allen 1 Simmons Eternal Bull General Jean Bold Question and Zo Zo Hopefuls HopefulsBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 9 No entry has run onetwo in the Kentucky Derby since Col Edward Riley Bradley accomplished that famous feat with Bubbling Over and Bagenbaggage away back in 1926 I will be repeated in 1942 by Allen T Sinunons ac ¬ cording to W G Douglass trainer of the Simmons stable at Suffolk Downs which in ¬ cludes such up and coming twoyearolds as Bold Question Eternal Bull Zo Zo and Gen ¬ eral Jean If Douglass became really enthus ¬ iastic he might even lay claim to all four money awards on Derby Day leaving other owners completely in the cold But W G is not that greedy greedyA A glance at the records reveals some justi ¬ fication for such bubbling optimism Seldom has an owner come to the forefront so early in the year with such a quartet of 3 oung runners It all started this winter in Florida when seven Douglasstrained juve ¬ niles in a row galloped to victory over the class of Hialeah Park The Simmons luck became a theme around Flamingo town townMoving Moving on to Tropical Park the entry of Bold Question and General Jean ran first and second in the leading twoyearold stake at that track despite Bold Question carry ¬ ing his running mate to the outside fence at the head of the stretch stretchLOWERED LOWERED TRACK MARK MARKThen Then they moved on to New England where when Eternal Bull faced a Yankee starter for the first time he went into the early lead and when the dust had settled was cantering back with a new track record of furlongsIf 53 for the four and a half furlongs If Allen T Simmons a prominent mid western sportsman and radio magnate had spent outlandish prices at the sales for his four youngsters it would not have been half as glamorous as the fact that the relatively small figure of 14500 was expended for the entire quartet Eternal Bull attracted the highest price the Bull Dog Rose Eternal colt being knocked down for 5300 Zo Zo by Ariel Marciana was purchased for 3900 Bold Question by Questionnaire Mooney for 3000 and General Jean by Jean Valjean Misgivings for 2400 2400All All four youngsters are well engaged at Suffolk Downs eligible for the 7500 Myles Standish Stakes and the closingday 15000 Mayflower Stakes and they should make their presence felt in no uncertain manner during meetingThe the remainder of the local meeting The Kentucky Derby of 1942 may be a long way off there may be many a slip twixt the cup and the lip but around the Sim ¬ mons stable there is a feeling that the Blue Grass classic is already wrapped up sealed and delivered to a flashing colt in gold and brown Simmons livery which will come flashing down in front just about one year hence It is merely a matter of determining just which one of the tweetsinging quartet is the proper party to nominate for such turf immortality
