HANDLE AND ATTENDANCE FOR BELMONTS BANNER MEETING MEETINGSum Sum of 22311349 Wagered Total Attendance of 405126 405126NEW NEW YORK N Y June 9 A checkup of the figures for the concluding week of racing at Belmont for the whole meeting at Belmont and for racing in New York since the season opened on April 15 as released today by Herbert Bayard Swope chairman of the New York State Racing Commission shows that 4838976 was wagered at Bel ¬ mont last week 22311349 during the meet ¬ ing and 41317172 during the racing season thus far Although not up to the turnover on Memorial Day when 1881160 went through the parimutuel machines the wagering last Saturday reached 1482116 The principal events on the card were the Belmont Stakes in which only four horses ran and the National Stallion Stakes neither of which is over a betting race and in neither of which was there a show pool 222679967 TO STATE STATEOut Out of the total of 41317172 wagered at New York tracks up to last Saturday the states share of revenue has been 2226 79967 The sum of 15301368 added to it in taxes on admissions brings the states total profit to 237981335 The public has been paid back 3686604130 out of the total handle During last week 80948 racegoers went to the track The total attendance at Belmont for the meeting was 405126 and the total seasons attendance thus far 791967 This makes the average daily attendance for the season 16162 which includes the record breaking attendance of 51861 on Memorial Day The average daily turnover at Belmont for the twentyfour days of the meeting just ended was 929639 That at Jamaica for the years inaugural meeting was 760232 The average for the season therefore is 843207
