RETIRE EIGHT THIRTY TO STUD STUDSTANTON STANTON Del June 10 Andrew Jackson Joyner dean of American horse ¬ men announced at Delaware Park today that Eight Thirty one of the greatest handicap performers of modern times is through racing and will be retired to the stud Joyner who is manager of the George D Widener racing and breeding interests had brought back the infirm fiveyearold son of Pilate Dinner Time in other seasons but no attempt will be made to train Eight Thirty again In his last public appearance Eight Thirty saddled by W F Mtilholland won the Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park running the mile in 137V He had also won the Toboggan earlier at the meet ¬ ing bringing his total victories up to sixteen in tventyseven starts with three seconds and five thirds Eight Thirty retires with earning of 155475
