BECKER RIDES LONG SHOT SHOTOMAHA OMAHA Neb June 10 Apprentice F Becker who rode the first winner of his career at AkSarBen last week came back Tuesday afternoon to pilot the longpriced field horse Empire State in the opening race The little apprentice had the sixyear old maiden son of War Instigator Merry Brigade off quickly and was never headed Don Banquet another outsider raced to second place while Silver Banquet a full sister of Don Banquet was third The race was run over a very heavy track and threat ¬ ening weather prevailed Jimmie Cabaniss an eightyearold com ¬ pleted the second half of the Daily Double which paid l200oO The distance was six furlongs and K Watson rode the winner
