YANKEE ELIGIBLES TO MEET IN CONSTITUTION HANDICAP HANDICAPSaturdays Saturdays Suffolk Stake Serves as Prep for 25000 Attraction AttractionBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 21 Threeyearolds will have the last important preparation for the 25000 added Yankee Handicap during the seventh week of the meeting when the 5000 added Constitution Handicap is being offered This fixture having its sixth run ¬ ning will serve as the highlight of the initial week of the summer season The Constitu ¬ tion to be run on Saturday June 28 has attracted a nomination list of fortynine from which to draw its starting field The weekend fixture is run over the onemile distance distanceThe The inaugural of the Constitution was in 1935 when it was framed for twoyearolds Infidox won the first running It was left out of the stakes program the next year In 1937 it was resumed at its present distance and made exclusively for threeyearolds The winners of the last four runnings have been Clingendaal Thanksgiving Lovely Night and Dusky Duke Clingendaal holds the rec ¬ ord for the stakes having covered the one mile in 136 136All All the topflight threeyearolds in the country are entered in the Constitution and it will serve to give an accurate line on the probable field that will line u for the richer Yankee Handicap to be run the following Friday Independence Day Twentyeight of those named for the 5000 fixture are listed among the Yankee nominations nominationsWith With the running of the Constitution it will mark the last of the Suffolk Downs fixtures to carry an added value of 5000 The remaining stakes in the order of their renewals are the Yankee Handicap July 4 25000 added Miles Standish Stakes July 5 7500 added Hannah Dustin Handicap July 12 10000 added Massachusetts Handicap July 16 50000 added and the Mayflower Stakes July 19 15000 added
