ANNOUNCE THIRTYDAY MEETING AT DETROIT DETROITRun Run Advanced Fall Season From July 7 to August 9 Management Unable to Get Late Autumn Dates DatesDETROIT DETROIT Mich June 21 Detroits ad ¬ vanced fall meeting will run thirty days from Monday July 7 through Saturday August 9 announced Edward J Fry Michi ¬ gan State Racing Commissioner here Sat ¬ urday urdayFry Fry said that the Detroit Racing Asso ¬ ciation had originally asked for fall meet ¬ ing dates from August 23 to September 27 but that these dates had to be turned down because of priority claim of the State Fail Boards trotting meeting which will oper ¬ ate from Labor Day September 1 through September 6 The Detroit Racing Association then was left with the alternative of running their fall meeting after the trotters closed on September 6 or to advance their autumn meeting Fry stated The track officials pointed out that without Labor Day there was little chance of a late meeting proving financially successful judging from past ex ¬ perience with such dates datesThe The advanced fall meeting will open on Monday following the close of the current fortyday meeting on Saturday July 5 It will give Detroit a total of seventy days of racing three more than in 1940 when a fortytwoday summer meeting and a twen ¬ tyfiveday fall session were operated One of these days will be a charity day dayREREGISTER REREGISTER ALL HORSES HORSESAs As the fall meeting dates run it will practically be an extension of the current summer session but Fry said all horses will be reregistered and track officials ad ¬ vised that stalls will be reallotted Suspen ¬ sions for the remainder of the meeting will leave the hands of the track stewards and go into the Michigan State Racing Commissions hands after July 5 5We We expect to have a number of nationally prominent stables ship in divisions for the second meeting said racing secretary Charles F Henry We already have stall applications for more than 200 new horses horsesUnder Under the state license fee of 2500 per day the three extra days of the 1941 season will increase the state revenue from the sport by 7500 over last year yearSecretary Secretary Henry pointed out that the new dates would be a notable economy for horse ¬ men who in former years had to undergo the expense of shipping back from River Downs for the local fall meeting meetingThe The Detroit plant is now enjoying one of its best meetings The new dates will be both an economy and a convenience for the association and turfmen as well
