RACING PETITION APPROVED APPROVEDBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 25 The city coun ¬ cil last night voted 7 to 4 to approve the petition for parimutuel betting on horse racing by the Brockton Agricultural Society The State Racing Commission which under a law passed this year takes the power of granting permits away from local authori ¬ ties will hold a public hearing on the dates requested by the Brockton Fair directorate The petition calls lor only six days of rac ¬ ing from September 8 to 13 inclusive and although ah amendment asking that the Agricultural Society include in its personnel at least 85 per cent Brocktonians was de ¬ feated the directors through counsel at ¬ torney Edmund J Campbell agreed to hire mostly local citizens
