AQUEDUCT TO STAGE THREE STAKE CHASES THIS FALL Schedule Harbor Hill Glendale and Bushwick for Next Session SessionNEW NEW YORK N Y June 25 Theodore J Knapp president of the Queen County Jockey Club today announced three steeple ¬ chase stake races for Aqueducts Fall meet ¬ ing which opens Monday September 1 and runs through Wednesday September 17 He also announced that there would be a jump ¬ ing race on each of the fifteen days of the Fall meeting alternating between hurdle races or steeplechases with a minimum purse of 1500 The three stakes are the Harbor Hill Steeplechase Handicap 3000 added for threeyearolds and upward at about two miles under new conditions The twentythird running of the Glendale Steeplechase Handicap 5000 added for fouryearolds and upward at about two miles and a half and the first running of the Bushwick Hurdle Handicap a hurdle race 2500 added for threeyearolds and upward at about one and onehalf miles This race was formerly a steeplechase steeplechaseThe The Harbor Hill was originally a steeple ¬ chase for threeyearolds and was inaugu ¬ rated in 1905 at Aqueduct It was last com ¬ peted for in 1937 The Harbor Hill Cup is a perpetual trophy donated by Henry W Bull The Queens County Jockey Club pre ¬ sents a replica of the cup to the owner of the winner each year as their absolute property propertyJumping Jumping races at Aqueduct were discon ¬ tinued during 1940 due to remaking the run ¬ ning track into a onemile oval Nominations will close August 15
