RACING IN LONE STAR STATE STATEKINGSVILLE KINGSVILLE Texas June 25 Although parimutuel wagering is outlawed in the state of Texas there is no lessening of interest in the weekly and monthly races run in some of the Lone Stars smaller communities Meetings are held almost every week at such points as Kinsville Kenedy Rock Springs Brady and other places While the quality of the horses might not be as high as that on recognized courses excitement and interest is on a par with that at any race track Believing that some bigtime racing stables some day might wish to train in Texas even though racing never returns citizens of Conora and Del Rio are now engaged constructing tracks and small stands The project at Del Rio is said to be r er pretentious and could be developed into a worthwhile development if racing should return to Texas The track is in close proximity to the stock farms of Roger Gillis and Edwjard Rachal
