Wheeling Downs to Stage SevenDay Charity Meet MeetBroun Broun Appoints Citizens Advisory Committee to Aid During Session SessionWHEELING WHEELING W Va May 22 Beverley Broun chairman of the West Virginia State Racing Commission today named a Citizens Advisory Committee in connection with the seven charity days of the spring meeting of the West Virginia Jockey Club which opens at Wheeling Downs on May 28 28Broun Broun authorized the following state ¬ ment Through the generosity of the West Virginia Jockey Club the entire net pro ¬ ceeds for the first seven days racing will be distributed 80 per cent to the American Red Cross and 20 per cent to the Wheeling Community Fund To aid and assist the Commission in making this Victory Meet ¬ ing at Wheeling Downs the success that is anticipated I have appointed as chair ¬ man of the Commission the following Advisory Committee Governor M M Neely honorary chairman J O Pearson chairman Mrs W W Holloway Mrs J J P OBrien Mrs Lee C Paull Mrs Carl O Schmidt Edward J Brennan Wright Hugus Robert J Riley Austin V Wood WoodBroiin Broiin further stated that for the fall meeting beginning August 19 the West Virginia Jockey Club has indicated a desire to set aside the proceeds of at least seven additional days for War Relief and Com ¬ munal Charitable Agencies The Advisory Committee to handle the charity days of the fall meeting has not yet been selected
