He was excused from starting c after examination by Dr. W. M. t Hickman, track veterinarian, in mid- t afternoon. Hickman reported a slight j filling in one ankle, as if the colt had wrenched it. The injury ap- 1 peared of no serious consequence to t his Derby chances, but the colts i connections were reluctant to risk 1 aggravating it in todays race. £
