POMIVA saved ground to the stretch turn, responded to a steady hand ride, wore down the leaders and won going away. VALDINA JOE made the pace until near the finish, then tired. SUPREME IDEAL held on willingly during the drive, but was not good enongh. WHEAT could not better his position under good handling. MUMBLE PEG never was dangerous and had no excuse. SCOTCH BREAD reared at the start, losing all chance. TOTAL ECLIPSE would not extend himself during the late stages. Scratched— 72427 Heno Lion. 116. Claimed — Mumble Peg by Miss Anna Herweg. DIBBER reached the lead when settled for the drive but tired nearing the finish. KAREN Q. made the pace to the fii.al quarter, then gave way. VITES never Was prominent. TTAPSE raced greenly. LINDA M. worked her way forward on the outside and, responding to urging in the stretch, retained her advantage. UNQUITABLE assumed command early, made the pace to the stretch under occasional urging but could not withstand the winner when roused for the drive. TURKEY FEATHER was kept in close quarters to the stretch, then finished determinedly on his own courage. LONE SENTRY came through on the inside entering the stretch when the leaders drifted out and, responding to urging, drew clear in the last sixteenth mile. ERIC KNIGHT assumed command at once, made the pace during the first half under pressure from LEO McLAUGHLIN, bore out on the final turn and carried the latter with him, but finished strongly when straightened. LEO McLAUGHLIN was forced wide entering the stretch and could not hold his position when roused for the drive. AIRY GOER lacked early speed. LINK tired. SHOOT TO BOOT was done early. HALCYON NIGHT took command early, responded to strong handling during the drive and lasted to withstand CHOW. The latter, outrun early, came to the outside entering the stretch and finished fast. LIVELY MAN was racing forwardly placed near the five sixteenths post when Y GLN came over on him and then closed willingly when dear of interference. Y GLN, keen factor throughout, forced LIVELY MAN to take up sharply nearing th# stretch, then failed to respond when set down for the drive. GREAT DIVIDE made a good bid on the final turn then gave way. PENNY PINCHER was done early. ON BOARD began fast, stepped into a soft spot in the track immediately after the break, stumbled and lost rider. Scratched— 76014 Slender Lady, 103; 76601 Ted Gardner, 105. BOWLING GREEN, never far back and lucky to escape interference on the first turn, took command near the stretch and outlasted DANSATION. The laXXer came out entering the stretch and was reaching the winner. OUR BIRTHDAY, outrun to the last three-eighths, finished fast. BARUNA dwelt at the start, but made up ground. GRAY FLARES went evenlv. CHIC SHIRLEY quit. BLUE WARRIOR bore over sharply on GUN BEARER on the first turn and then quit. GUN BEARER, knocked back by BLUE WARRIOR, failed to recover.
