PILOT STAR was well placed while racing on ttie inside, was fortunate to find racing room entering the stretch, assumed command and was not threatened thereafter. MACKEREL SKY was steadied while in the center of the pack early, responded to pressure, but could not threaten the winner. JOBLOTS was slow settling into stride, came through on the inside to loom dangerously in the early stretch, then flattened out. SWING SHIFT, badly outrun for a half, closed with a belated rush. HOT NIGHT failed to rally until the final furlong. NORA BELLE had speed but was carried wide entering the stretch. TIME FLIES showed good speed for the first half. JACK MADIGAN set the pace under steadying restraint, then drifted out while tiring through the stretch. Scratched— 75964 Baby Kiddie. 108; 50127 Hasty Foot. 109. DOLLY VARDEN set her own pice while under stout restraint, drew clear rapidly when shaken up in the early stretch and was eased up thiough the last fifty yards. VOLTCRNO forced Mhe winners pace from the start and held on rather well. SERGEANT J. V. raced on the inside and continued gamely. MAIDOFTHEMOON may have been closer but for racing very wide into the stretch. BLACK KNIGHT showed nothing. The others failed to reach prominence. MAE CASE was brought along gradually during the running, assumed command just inside the fuulong pole and, under strong handling, withstood the closing bid of GORGET. The latter lacked racing room on the inside around the turn, came between horses entering the stretch and closed willingly. SUNDIAL, badiv outrun to the stretch, closed with good courage. HIPPOMENES raced on the inside throughout, shook oft FLYING TARTAR, then tired badly. NIPPY was eased back slightly when in close quarters on the turn. NITA JEAN forced the pace for more than three-quarters, then tired badly in the dosing eighth. SQUADRON was hard pressed by NITA JEAN throughout and folded up in the stretch. JAN ONE showed nothing.
