Zacapet Scores Again Over Louisville Track Administers Length and Half Defeat to Odds-On Durazna LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 15.— Mrs. H. J. Damms consistent colt Zacapet, who has been out of the money only once ii five starts this spring, won his second straight victory when he humbled Brownell Combs Durazna and two others in the six-furlong Shawnee Park Purse, which featured the semi-final program at Churchill Downs today. Zacapets margin of superiority over his filly foe, who was making her first start as a four-year-old, was a length and a half, with Durazna beating Mrs. K. Maxwells Busyridge a length and a quarter for the place. Mrs. F. P. Letelliers Sun Flower was a distant fourth. The race was staged under threatening skies, but over a fast track with Zacapet completing the three-quarters in 1:1225. He was second choice to odds-on Durazna and paid .60. Almost from the start, Zacapet and Durazna raced as a team far to the fore of their two opponents. Zacapet, energetically ridden by J. R. Lay ton, clung doggedly to Durazna s pace and when the filly began to tire approaching the eighth pole, the brown colt, revealing good reserve speed, came on to maintain a safe margin to the finish. Durazna, one of the outstanding fillies of the 1943 season, but who went slightly amiss after only two starts last year, set a swift early pace, but found almost a years layoff had dulled her staying powers considerably. She is likely to improve off todays effort. Busyridge was outrun badly during the early part, but closed gamely through the last eighth-mile. Sun Flower was obviously overmatched. Murlogg Farms Fighting Step, who was beaten off in last Saturdays Kentucky Derby, ran six furlongs in the good time of 1:12 flat to beat Roi Rouge by three and a half lengths in the secondary New Albany Purse. Bergolater, stablemate of Fighting Step, was third, with Tiger Rebel, another vanquished Derby aspirant, fourth.
