GUSHER was kept forwardly from the start, responded to pressure in the stretch run and disposed of HIGH TINT. The latter drew away into a safe lead and had no mishaps. PURPLE HEART responded to urging and finished well. MILLO was outrun in the early stages, but could not menace the leaders. RINGAWAY had early speed, but tired when bothered rounding the stretch turn. DEIMOS was outrun. REIMBURSEME dropped back after a half mile. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner for allegedly bumping HIGH TINT when he passed him, but was disallowed. SECOND RACE 7-8 MILE. Roseben, Oct. 16, 1906—1:22—5—126. Purse ,500. THE THANE improved his position steadily, moved up fast on the outside entering the stretch and disposed of WAR DRESSING in the final drive. The latter was sprinted into command, showed speed and had no mishaps. WAPAN finished well under urgine. ACCORD was slow to begin. REAPING GEM made up ground on the inside. BETTYS BOBBY was hustled into command, was rated along and had no mishaps. CAI.ATAN moved up when urged entering the stretch and then faltered. ALLESSANDRO had no mishaps.
