SON CHARLIE was rushed into a i aiding position while racing between horses in the run down the backstretch, was brought to the outside on "e stretch turn and, under a strong ride, wore down JHANSI rearing the last sixteenth. The latter had speed, c?me to the inside while drawing clear leaving the backstretch and, while unable to resist the winner, was best oi the others. WAYMARK broke alertly, but was shuffled back on the inside and rallied when clear on the Tim, but failed to threaten the top pair. COUNT DID raced a trifle wide early and gave way steadily after a r ile. GAY CHANSON was never a factor. FREEZOUT was through early. NORTH PARK was sore in the posi rarade and came back lame. ANGEL OF WAR followed in close attendance to the early pace, rallied gamely to increased pressure on entering the stretch and, while being Intimidated nearing the last furlong marker, outgamed IRISH KNIGHT while bearing in through the last eighth. The latter forced the pace in hand, saved ground throughout and held on stubbornly. SPACE SHIP made the pace under good rating, was put to strong handling in the final quarter and, while drifting out, held on fairly well. LA RIMDA, slow to settle into her best stride, rallied from the outside when set down for the drive and finished full of run. HICKORY LEA improved his position steadily rounding the turn, but failed to rally for the drive BLUE THANKS could not keep up. Scratched— 72865 Escador, 119. ENDURABLE, taken under steadying restr? nt while being outrun in the early stages, found racing room on the inside in the early stretch and, under strong handling, was best in the drive. STEEL BLUE was never a great distance back, raced a trifle wide and, after wresting command inside the last furlong, could not last. TRUMPET KING also raced wide while following in close attendance to the pace, but failed to rally when set down for the drive. WAR POPPY had speed to the sketch and went wide, then tired. SUN QUEST wrested command on the stretch turn and gave way readily when :hallenged. OTHELLO made a brief bid nearing the last quarter and flattened out. GAY MOOD outsprinted her field From the beginning, saved ground throughout, rallied under strong handling through the stretch and held her advantage. JAZZ BABY, taken in hand and steadied along for the first half mile, also saved ground and, under extreme pressure in the drive, was best of the others. NELL K., slow to reach her best stride, raced on the Dutside throughout, but was unable to improve her position and worked out seven furlongs in 1:26%. TEA-MAKER * followed in close attendance to the early pace, saved ground to the stretch and lacked a closing rally. MASTER MIND, outrun for the first half mile, raced wide in the late stages and failed to seriously threaten. RIVERLANE t also raced wide in the last quarter. WOODSTOCK could not keep up. COALTOWN, taken under stout restraint soon after the break, followed in close attendance to the early pace for the first half mile, assumed command from the outside when ready and quickly drew into a lonci lead to hold his-advantage while still under a tight hold. VULCANS FORGE, steadied along while racing on the outside early, was roused soon after leaving the backstretch, moved willingly to the pacemaker on the stretch turn, but was not good enough. THREE RINGS had good early speed, saved ground much of the way, but gave way steadily after losing command. ESCADRU had no mishap in an even effort. BETTER SELF was always outrun. FLYING MISSEL, forced to take up when shut off soon after the break, was steadied along while racing between horses in the first half mile, was brought to the outside rounding the second turn and, und;r mild urging, assumed command in the early stretch and drew out with ease. BARE FOOT BOY was never far back, saved ground throughout, wrested command on the stretch turn, but could not resist the winner. BLACK CHIFFON broke to the outside and was rushed into a contending position while rounding the first turn, but fattened out when set down for the drive. ROCKET BOMB was never far back, wrested command soon after leaving the backstretch, drev into a long lead under urging on the stretch turn, but could not resist the winner. PEACELAW improved his position steadily while saving ground after leaving the backstretch, but flattened out in the drive. ALTHIRD had no mishap. MARTAL made up some ground in the late stages. BOOM BOOM was through early. GALLALAD gave way suddenly after showing good speed for three-quarters. Attendance 42,904; Total Mutuel Pool, ,011,541.
