FIGHTING CLOUD raced close to the p*e of MERRY TUDOR for a half mile, then went to the front and, withstanding a bid of CASTILE nearing the stretch turn, interfered with the latter when straightened out and was disqualified for foul and placed third. BARBAZURE, well rated early, came strongly on the outside near the end and was pressing the winer. CASTILE came very fast after going six furlongs and started through on the inside of FIGHTING CLOUD nearing the stretch turn, but was unable to head the latter and was forced to ease back when in tight quarters. GRAND ISLE moved to contention nearing the stretch turn, then came to the inside to finish very fast between JIM BOY-H and the rail and won going away under hard urging. JIM BOY-H was taken back in the early stages, then made a strong run after entering the backstretch to get through on the inside of BILLCELLA around the far turn, but did not have enough left to withstand the winner. BILLCELLA had the most early speed and, despite bearing out in the last quarter, finished gamely in the middle of the track. JETSAM tired.
