GREAT ISSUE forced the pace to the far turn, moved into command when roused and drew out readily. WILLEGIVIT, close up on the outside, rallied mildly when put tc pressure. STEEL BULL, steadied within striking distance of the pace, saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to menace. URANiUM showed good early speed, weakening near the end. BOLD STAR passed tiring horses. FIESTA flattened out. INSTANTER had no mishap. RATON dropped out of contention earlv. was sent up on the outside, but failed to reach serious contention. RED PRINCESS raced close to the pace and held on tenaciously. WILLING SPIRIT was under early pressure to remain within striking distance of the pace, but lacked a late rally. SEA FARE passed tiring horses. WIDDEFORD flattened out after losing the lead. HASHER drove up along the inside to race close to the pace for a quarter mile, then tired. ESTA VEZ lacked early speed. GOLD APPLE had brief speed. PHOEBE S. quit. SKY CHILLA was taken up sharply when in close quarters. RANCH HOUSE raced close to the pace, responded to steady pressure and was along to outfinish WOLFCAMP. The latter forced the pace, assumed command on the final turn and held on stubbornly. NOME, quickest to start, was steadied within striking distance of the pace, was roused entering the stretch and closed willingly on the outside. NIGHT AGAIN, forwardly placed, lacked a closing rally. PINK GIN broke sluggishly, moved into contention after a quarter mile and had nothing left for the drive. KELLY AWAY was going stoutly at the end. PROMISING retired steadily after flashing brief speed. SIGH QUEEN raced wide. LOCARNO showed nothing. WINSOME MARY broke slowly and was never a serious factor. FLYING MILE, a trailer to the final furlong, charged stoutly on the outside, but was unable to reach the winner. DASH FOR CASH, in close attendance of the early pace, rallied when set down to draw on even terms with the leader, . then faltered. BEST DEGREE moved between horses to take the early lead, saved ground while setting the pace, but weakened in the final sixteenth of a mile. FOSTERS PRIDE failed to rally when roused. POWER DRUNK set a rapid pace from the start and held on stubbornly when challenged. SWADELLE came to the outside in the stretch and closed with good energy. ATOM RIDE forced the pace fcr a half mile, saved ground on the turns, but weakened. HATIKVAH was never prominent. LONG GONE was outrun. Overweight— Swadelle, 2 pounds. FIGHTING DAY forced the pace under light restraint, gained command along the inside entering the straightaway, but was unable to match strides with the winner. GAY ROCKET, in slight trouble early, moved to the outside on the far turn, challenged through the stretch, but was not good enough. TOM FERRIS moved through along the inside to be near the leaders, failed to secure racing room, was eased back and to the outside, but was unable to make up lost ground. COMBATORE was in close quarters on the turns. BUBBLE WORLB had no mishap. SAFE BET lacked a late rally. WONDER WHY set the pace to the final turn, then tired. CLOUD-CHASER was outrun. EIGHT BELLS, prominent from the start, improved his position gradually when called upon and, under vigorous handling, bested HAPPY EAST in the final stride. The latter improved his position rapidly after being slew to settle into best stride. FALSE FRONT made a mild bid rounding the final turn, but was not good enough. ON BALANCE gave way in the final three-sixteenths after racing closest to the pace from the start. ROUGH COOKIE showed a dull effort. The others had no excuses.
