Call Over Makes Good In Garden State Dash DashApprentice Apprentice F Ryan Has Mount Length Clear of Buzzing Bee BeeBy By FRED GALIANI GALIANIStaff Staff Correspondent CorrespondentGARDEN GARDEN STATE PARK Camden N J May 1 With apprentice Freddie Ryan turning in a nice ride Bedford Stables Call Over won the first race of his 1952 campaign taking the featured Wildwopd Purse today handily The Devil Diver horse held a length margin over Mrs D Hickeys Buzzing Bee who raced with the winner head and head for a good part of the jour ¬ ney and had some excuses as he stumbled badly coming out of the gate Mrs A Rob ¬ erts Sedgeview was a length and a half back in third place while J L McKnights Mr Buster was fourth fourthCall Call Over turned in the best six furlongs of the young meeting scampering the dis ¬ tance in 112 over a fast track Held at oddson by the crowd of 14638 Call Over returned 360 360Call Call Over seems to fit the Horses for Courses theory He was always a cham ¬ pion at this track and last fall swept the handicap lists winning the Princeton Quaker City and Trenton Handicaps This year he had been to the post five times previously but could not win anything He finished seventh in the Laurel Handicap in his last start and was unplaced in the Widener and Gulfstream Handicaps He is on home grounds here hereCall Call Over and Buzzing Bee hooked up in a duel soon after leaving the gate and they raced head and head down the backstretch Going into the far turn Call Over inched away ever so slightly and by the time they were heading into the stretch he had a clear margin Ryan flicked Call Over at the top of the stretch and again at the eighth pole and the Count Fleet horse gradually drew out Buzzing Bee was a game second while Sedgeview who was third for the greatest part of the trip could not make up any appreciable ground groundJockey Jockey Jimmy Stout who was thrown after the fourth race was suffering from a possible pulled leg muscle
