BIG QUESTION soon sprinted to the front and, drawing out from his rivals around the far turn, was never in danger of being headed and won easily. EXCELSIS was unable to keep up with the early leaders, but finished fairly well. KILBELIN TRAFFIC raced wide while making his move in the stretch and was bothered slightly when TRICKY MAUD bore out INSIST found an opening in the stretch to finish fairly well. FIGHTING DAY moved up on the outside around the stretch turn and, challenging LUMENA successfully an eighth out, drew away thereafter to win easily. LUMENA got to the front early and widened the lead-nearing the stretch turn, but was unable to hold the winner and was doing her best to stall off BLUE AGENT. The latter closed a gap while racing wide and was going strongly at the finish. SILVER SENATOR turned in an even effort. SOME FRIEND dropped out of it after going a short distance. COUSIN CLARA took a short lead rounding the first turn and was under restraint to the far turn, where she was challenged by RAPID MAIL, then drew away from the latter to increase her advantage in the stretch. RAPID MAIL moved up to the leader at the half-way mark, but dropped back in the stretch and just- lasted to save second place. FOXY DOLL was close enough in the first part, but lost much ground on the stretch turn. GINNY WIN passed tiring horses. LUCE CHANGE was never a serious contender. CHALLESTAR was in close quarters on the first turn and again while trying to find an opening on the inside on the far turn and dropped back thereafter. ROMAN VULCAN took a short lead soon after the start and, drawing out in the last quarter when given free rein, increased his margin to win as he pleased. EL PAIR ME raced wide all the way, but was too good for the others, although failing to menace the winer. PLAY EDA was outrun to the stretch, then came strongly under hard urging. RUSTY BROWN made a mild run after going half the trip, but failed to become a serious contender. BRECON BEACONS weakened in the stretch. BOGALUSA was never a contender. REBEL RAIDER was badly outrun for six furlongs, then came fairly well. ROSAMUNDA II. was also going well at the finish. SNATCHED moved through an opening on the backstretch to reach a contending place, then faded. MISS BLACK tired when put to pressure. UNEQUAL quit badly. SWAMP GUIDE was eased when beaten off. BABYS DELIGHT was off quickly and, although required to race unnecessarily wide in the stretch, went gamely to the end. NICKIES BOY made up some ground. Won handily; second and third driving. SEAWARD was in hand while following the pace of CAN LOCATE in the early stages and, responding readily after leaving the backstretch, had no trouble forging to the front and opening a good advantage, was then seemingly given a breathing spell and urged when PUR SANG loomed a threat nearing the last eighth, drew otu once more to be a handy winner. PUR SANG was well placed early and coming to the outside for the stretch run made a fair move nearing the final furlong and loomed menacingly momentarily, but was unable to catch the winner, although holding second place safe. RUHE dropped back to last place early, was rather rortunate in finding an opening next to the rail on the backstretch and made a mild run nearing the stretch turn, but was unable to get close to the first two, although hand ridden. FAIR APPRAISAL had no trouble disposing of the others. CAN LOCATE dropped out of it when the real racing began. CHALLCOTE was never a contender and seemed to be badly overmatched.
