Hoffman; bred by R. A. Ankenbauer. WENT TO POST-5:50. OFF AT 5:50i EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. MOCK BATTLE, away forwardly, raced with TIS JOE from the start, reached the lead entering the stretch and then held RIGMAROLE safe. The latter, forced to take up sharply when impeded by PAK at the first turn, steadily made up ground when clear, but was unable to reach the winner, although probably best. H0PT0WN, reserved to the stretch, finished willingly under hard urging. PAK, permitted to swerve to the inner rail, bothered RIGMAROLE at the first turn, raced determinedly thereafter, but could not get to the leaders. BIG JET began sluggishly. TIS JOE went to the front at once, made the pace for five furlongs, then weakened when challenged by MOCK BATTLE. SINN FEIN was never dangerous. NINTH RACE DETROIT—! 1-16 Miles. Horse. . Straight.
