CARELESS JONES engaged the leader from the outside on the turn and gained a narrow decision while showing a tendency to drift out. UNATTACHED held a clear lead along the backstretch, saved ground while dueling with CARELESS JONES on the turn and held on tenaciously. FLEET ARGO made up ground through the stretch. ROUGH ME could not keep pace. BIG KEIS failed to enter contention. ROMANTYPE was outrun. SPEEDY VAN falttened out badly. Overweight — Big Keis, 1 pound. Fleet Argo claimed by Keystone Stable. LAVENDER HILL, unhurried early, saved ground until ready to challenge, engaged the leader from the outside and could be only mildly urged while a trifle green. GRIS GRIS outran PAMPAS BEAUTY for the lead along the backstitch, turned back that ones challenge nearing the stretch, but was no match for the winner. PAMPAS BEAUTY displayed good speed, held on well to midstretch and faltered. MANY ISLANDS caught only tired horses. CORTINA had brief speed and quit. HANNIBAL, unhurried during the opening furlong, rapidly established a commanding lead when hustled a bit late in the run along the backstretch, was not threatened and won without need of pressure. GOODWILLOW weakened following a mild bid on the turn HOLYSTONE could not keep up. BATTLE FURY outfinished ROMAN ROCKET. The latter showed nothing CHELLO faltered badly. HIGH SCUD saved ground while in close attendance to the pace, saved ground until reaching the leader, wrested command from the outside and easily drew clear. ALLS FAIR dropped far out of contention early, circled the field while closing willingly, but was no match. G. R. PETERSEN weakened after forcing the pace of LETS LIVE. The latter faltered through the final quarter. STAR OF PERSIA saved ground to no avail. JAMPOL turned in a poor effort. LOT-A-BRASS raced prominently early and was impeded through the stretch. MIDYEAR improved his position gradually while saving ground along the rail, moved to the leaders on the stretch turn and held off MERRY RISK at the end. The latter, taken under restraint in the early stage, moved boldly on the stretch turn to reach contention and finished in middle of the track MONTE, far back in the first part, improved position gradually to catch tired horses. LUCKY HARP set early pace and held on gamely. BUTLER could not reach contention MURRAY D. showed briefly in front and dropped back after a quarter-mile.
