Breeders of Homebreds In Nebraska to Benefit BenefitAkSarBen AkSarBen Augments Current Three Per Cent Another Seven SevenAKSARBEN AKSARBEN Omaha Neb June 12 Encouragement that really means some ¬ thing in the pooketbook was extended to ¬ day toNone of Nebraskas youngest indus ¬ tries the thoroughbred horse industry industryIt It came in the form of an announcement by James P Lee chairman of the Racing Committee for AkSarBen that the organ ¬ ization is going to give liberal cash awards to breeders of Nebraskabred horses which win races at the current meet here hereUnder Under the existing state law breeders re ¬ ceive three per cent of the purse money won by a Nebraskabred horse Lee said that AkSarBen will augment this by donating to breeders an additional sum equal to seven per cent of the winning purse thus making a total of ten per cent centOur Our eyes were opened to the compara ¬ tively rapid growth of thoroughbred breed ¬ ing when entries for the Nebraskabred two yearold stakes to be run at AkSarBen this year nearly doubled that of any pre ¬ vious year Lee said The twoyearold race closed with fortyone nominations and the threeyearold race with thirtyeight The two events are to be run June 26 and June 30 respectively respectivelyLee Lee said the seven per cent bonus to breeders will be retroactive to the opening day of the meeting will continue through the closing day July 4 and will amount to several thousand dollars
