Reduce Arlington Overnight Juvenile Races to 5 Furlongs FurlongsRacing Racing secretary Frank E Jimmy Kilroe announced yesterday that all twoyearold overnight races carded in the first edition of the Arlington Park condition book have been reduced in distance to five furlongs furlongsThe The reason for this action Kilroe explained is that due to the adverse weather conditions that have prevailed during the past few weeks horsemen have been unable to properly condition their juveniles for the previously scheduled five and onehalf furlong sprints We hope by reducing the dis ¬ tance to assist horsemen in training their twoyearolds up to the longer sprints sprintsArlingtons Arlingtons first condition book which covers the first eight days of the 36day meeting has 14 twoyearold overnight events scheduled The dis ¬ tance change does not cover the June 22 opening day Primer Stakes That event a 15000 added juvenile affair will still be run at five and onehalf furlongs
