Rain Falls Throughout Program at Ascot Park ParkJockey Jockey Parker7 Trainer Smith Share in Triple Score on Card CardBy By RONALD KRANCER KRANCERStaff Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK Cuyahoga Park Ohio May 3 A crowd of about 2500 turned out here today and a steady rain fell through ¬ out the program The track which started out as slow went to muddy before the fourth race raceThe The only bright spot of the afternoon was the riding of Gail Parker who scored for the third time aboard Mrs Virginia McKenneys Scotsun in the fifth race It was also the third tally of the afternoon for trainer Bill Smith and that momen ¬ tarily ties him with Pete Maxwell in train ¬ ing honors both having saddled a dozen winners winnersScotsun Scotsun was two and onehalf lengths in front of Grand Nugget at the end of the six and onehalf furlongs with Little Zac the early pacesetter saving third money by two lengths Scotsun overcame a poor start and paid 1240 being timed in 134 134The The ultimate winner broke in the air and came out of the gate in last position Clay Pigeon was on top at the break with Little Zac along the rail second and Moon Gay in third position positionScotsun Scotsun was fast to gain best stride and as the horses raced into the backstretch moved into fourth spot six lengths off the pace which was set by Little Zac Shirley Jeff was second while Moon Gay with Eddie Plesa in the irons was third thirdLittle Little Zac drew clear by five lengths going into the far turn and Moon Gay was now second a head to the good of the eventual winner who was on the outside of horses Midway around the final bend Parker guided his mount to the extreme outside and coming into the stretch had gained command by a half length over Little Zac ZacThrough Through the stretch with Parker whip ¬ ping and driving Scotsun drew clear by a comfortable margin and was in the better going near the outside fence Grand Nug ¬ get who has always taken fondly to an off strip closed willingly and garnered second money by a whisker over the tiring Little Zac ZacScotsun Scotsun is a twelveyearold gelded son of Double Scotch Suneen and was bred by his owner who hails from the nations capital It was Scotsuns second winning race of the year in four starts startsJockey Jockey Gail Parker who has been dis ¬ playing excellent saddle form thus far won both ends of the 3400 Daily Double here this afternoon The winning horses were Occupy Lady owned by Washing tonian Wayne Kendrick and J H Morris Timeothemoon TimeothemoonParker Parker has now won 27 races and is well in front of Edward Plesa who is in second position The youthful Parker hails from Rexburg Idaho the same town that sent Earl Sande and Wayne Wright to the races racesTuesdays Tuesdays feature will be the sixth race at four and onehalf furlongs and it prom ¬ ises to be a most interesting event Nine have accepted the conditions and will line up in the following order Oh Linda Come on Ruby Elvie II Bonny Cadette Gypsy Blood Benadril Son Joss Dainger Ring and Sundobullea SundobulleaProbable Probable favorite in this contest will be Dainger Ring who is trained by Bill Bell This one is always dangerous in a sprint and in his last outing was a bangup second to MorSnoozey one of the better horses on the grounds Oh Linda who has a world of early foot and Come on Ruby from Bobby Myers very successful public stable figure to provide Dainger Ring with the most opposition
