perior effort in the first heat and her reinsman Dave Taddeo got his driving diploma for the cool way he handled the fouryearold filly BHaven winner of last years 50000 Illi ¬ nois State Fair Colt Stakes outpaced the field of seven sidewheelers around the clubhouse turn but slowed down once in the lead Russell Britenfield behind Judy Cash however did not like this tactics and pulled out with his mare from last place For more than a quarter mile BHaven and Judy Cash raced head and head with Easter Flowers in third position two lengths back backTaddeo Taddeo sitting still until the three quarter pole let Easter Flowers go with Myrtle Truax and Gay Order right be ¬ hind him Turning for home Easter Flowers collared BHaven and in mid stretch had neehead in front to win by a neck from BHaven with the fast clos ¬ ing Myrtle Truax another neck back in third place Easter Flowers time for the mile trip was 207 and she paid 1520 to win winOn On the strength of her showing in the first heat Easter Flowers went to the post as the favorite in the second dash and for half a mile it looked as if she would be able to down her rivals again BHaven immediately went to the front but Billy Rouse had Miss ShiheAMite winging from the gate and the Chicagoowned mare took command entering the back stretch pacing at a fast clip There was again a gap of two lengths between the two leaders and the second group headed by Easter Flowers with only Judy Cash trailing With a quarter mile to go it was apparent that Miss ShineAMite was all but exhausted from her pacesetting efforts and also BHaven showed signs of weak ¬ ening and appeared to be running in his hopples Coming into the homestretch it was still the Eddie Havens gelding in front with Easter Flowers close up and Gay Order looming on the outside At the six ¬ teenth pole Howard Beissinger had Gay Order at even terms with BHaven and Easter Flowers and with speed in reserve drew away to win by a length in 206 the fastest time registered at this meet ¬ ing ingTom Tom Wilburn was the only double win ¬ ner on Friday night scoring in two suc ¬ cessive races His first victory came in the fourth race a C class pace with the fouryearold gelding Cant Wait in 210 and the fifth race a CC class trot with the trotting filly Miss Kay Abbe in 211 in both cases reducing the records of his charges by one fifth of a second Clarence Curtis steered his first win ¬ ner at this meeting the Minnesotaowned trotter Francis Me who nosed out the hardluck horse Clever Tee driven by Earl Roush in the BB class trot It was the third time in
