SPORTSMANS NOTEBOOK SPORTSMANS PARK Cicero 111 May 3 The first of a series of three endurance handicaps to be decided at this halfmile track during the meet ¬ ing will be staged here Wednesday The best of the route runners on the grounds are preparing for it and the two to follow and as the purse award is 5000 in each instance competi ¬ tion should be keen Distance races seem to be more popular with the general run of the patrons than the shorter affairs and it is to be hoped that racing secretary Robert McAuliffe has no difficulty filling his series The first of the three events will be at one and onesix ¬ teenth miles the second at one and oneeighths miles and H third at one and threesixteenths miles It will be re Smed that racing secretary Frank Kilroe put on such a series at Arlington and Washington Parks last summer and they proved popular popularA A A A AWhat What do you think happened here Saturday The boys in the press section were congratulating me on De ¬ termines
