FIGHTING LOW broke alertly, remained in close attendance of the pace, rallied under late pressure and was along to outfinish STAKEPOINT. The latter overtook the leader entering the stretch, continued on gamely, but was not good enough. HATTER WAR closed with a mild rally from slightly back of the pace. SCIPIO came inside for the drive, but lacked a rally. COTTON BUD was unable to keep up. ANNS STEP opened a comfortable lead soon after the start, shortened stride after a half mile and retired. PLATTERETTE was never a serious factor in a dull effort. WILFUL reared back in the gate, holding up the start, and showed nothing in the running. The others were outrun. LADY FINN broke alertly, went along close to the pace until roused, moved clear, drew out and lasted over the late challenge of OUR JAN. The latter showed good speed in racing close to the pace, responded to pressure Tn the drive and was catching the winner. QUEEN IRISH moved to challenge the leader after a half mile and remained in contention to the end. GOOD COUNSEL passed tiring horses with a late rush; LADY FLUSHING, under stout restraint and in trouble repeatedly, was going well at the end. CLOSING NIGHT was forced to lose ground throughout and lacked a late rally. PLASTERED raced in spots. POWWOW went evenly. BULL HYDE saved ground to no avail. MR. CURTISS raced wide. SO WELL stopped. TEXAS BRAGS WAS SORE GOING IN THE POST PARADE AND ORDERED SCRATCHED. ALL MONIES WAGERED ON TEXAS BRAGS WAS REFUNDED. FLAG OFFICER broke alertly, was kept with the pace, gained the inside while entering the stretch, drew clear and increased the advantage under steady pressure. GATO MANOSO gained the lead before a quarter mile, remained close up after giving way and held on tenaciously in the drive to earn a dead-heat with BRONZE AGE. The latter rushed boldly to join the leaders on the final turn, responded in the drive and finished with good eneray. DARLIN BETTY, a forward factor on the outside, failed to respond in the late stages. BRIAR CREEK raced in spots. PHEASANT BOOTS had no mishap. HOBO KING was in close quarters and failed to rally when clear. TECOMATE was outrun. UNA WHILLY was never a serious factor. SYLVAN GLADE showed brief speed and stopped. WARM BREEZE saved ground to the final turn, was guided outside, responded mildly and was closing stoutly at the end. BRIGHT CROWN forced the pace under light pressure, rallied to vie for command and faltered. APACHE LOVE moved into command at once, dominated the pace for five furlongs and weakened. MOFLAME broke alertly, was steadied close to the leader, rallied to assume command in the stretch and withstood a sustained drive from USUAL. The latter, in hand and saving ground on the turns, came out to the middle of the track for the drive and was pressing the winner. UTOPIA, never far off the pace, was sent up on the outside nearing the final turn, responded to steady pressure, but was not good enough. HEART OF OAK assumed command soon after the start, established an even pace for seven furlongs and weakened when pressed. GYPSUM, unhurried while settling into best stride, was unable to menace under Jate pressure. DIXIE PRINCE rallied mildly and faltered. Scratched— 199532 Barneys Joy, 115; 19954 Joiner, 112.
