Noureddin in Impressive Churchill Downs Workout WorkoutTimed Timed Seven Panels in 1 283 for Pimlicos Preakness Engagement EngagementCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky May 9 Crabgrass Stables Noureddin a fastclosing third in Saturdays 84th Ken ¬ tucky Derby concluded his Louisville training program this morning with an im ¬ pressive 7furlong move in 128 and ac ¬ cording to his trainer J H Slim Pierce is to depart his Churchill Downs head ¬ quarters at 1100 am tomorrow by van for his next engagement the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico The Noor colt was impressive in his move this morning as he not only went willingly about his work he also went somewhat in the same pattern that found him finishing so strongly in the Derby moving along slowly and then finishing with a fastclos ¬ ing quarter The colt under Jimmy Corn best went his opening quarter in 25 half mile in 50 following which he in ¬ creased the tempo somewhat to reach six furlongs in 116 getting his full distance in 128 following which he was allowed to gallop out a full mile in 141 141Pierce Pierce stated following the Trial This is as fast as I wanted him to go as he is a small colt and had a tough race in the Derby and should have little difficulty in holding his present form Slim contin ¬ ued we will not do much with him follow ¬ ing our arrival in Baltimore early Sunday morning walk him on Monday gallop Tuesday and Wednesday and give him a final light blowout for the Preakness on either Thursday or Friday depending en ¬ tirely on how he does in the meantime meantimeJimmy Jimmy Combest who is to ride Noureddin in the Preakness will not leave Louisville until after Tuesdays program when he will fly to Baltimore and be on hand to give the colt his final gallops and work for that 1 316 miles run at Pimlico
