Card West Virginia Derby At Summer Wheeling Meet MeetWHEELING WHEELING DOWNS Wheeling W Va May 12 Vheclingr Downs will run the West Virginia Derby during the coining summer meeting according to an announcement made this after ¬ noon by general manager Robert G Leavitt arid racing secretary Edward A Miller after a conference held over the week end with executive vicepresi ¬ dent Anthony J Zerilli and Jack W Tocco treasurer of the Wheeling Rac ¬ ing Association operators of this half mile course courseFlans Flans arc under way to present the Derby for the first time and many wellknown threeyearolds racing in Maryland Ohio Illinois Michigan and other nearby states are expected to try for the inital running of the classic classicMiller Miller announced the race would be staged over the 1 miles distance and that the purse for the added money event would be announced on May SI final day of the current meeting
