Leading ThistleDown Rider Again to Receive Trophy TrophyCLEVELAND CLEVELAND Ohio May 13 The lead ¬ ing rider of the ThistleDown meeting again will receive a trophy offered the past five years by the Cleveland News Paul Ward who rode at the Sportsmans Park meeting has dominated the contests in past years yearsWard Ward was the top ThistleDown rider for three years in a row 1954 1955 and 1956 and in the middle year scored 42 victories an alltime high for a 44 day session at this track Eddie Plesa and Louis Syfrig tied for honors in 1953 and again last year a knot resulted when Clarence Meaux and Buck Thornburg finished out the meeting with the same number of victories victoriesMeaux Meaux has since signed on with William Hal Bishop and will be an absentee except for possible stakes engagements here but Thornburg is due to return and should con ¬ test Wards fourth bid for the riding crown
