Kennedys Condition Critical After Self Inflicted Wound WoundGOLDEN GOLDEN GATE FIELDS Albany Calif May 13 Eugene Beans Kennedy out ¬ rider at Golden Gate Fields and other Cali fornia tracks was in ciitical condition in Highland Hospital Oakland today follow ¬ ing a selfinflicted pistol wound at his home late Monday shot himself in the mouth with a 32calibre pistol and exami ¬ nations disclosed the bullet lodged in his brain brainKennedys Kennedys wife could provide no reason for her husbands action but said that ever since he suffered a fall from his pony at Golden Gate Fields two weeks ago he had been complaining of severe headaches headachesKennedy Kennedy was pulled from his pony while attempting to catch a runaway horse and after hitting the ground was dragged some 20 feet with one foot caught in a stirrup He was not believed to have been seriously hurt and after several days of hospitaliza tion and rest at home he was able to return to his post at Golden Gate Fields FieldsIn In addition to having been pony boy at Golden Gate Fields and other tracks Ken ¬ nedy also was starter at Longacres LongacresWhile While Kennedys condition this morning was reported critical physicians held some hopethat he would recover
