PENDERGRASS STARS Jockey Rides Four Winners at Exposition Park Course Sergeant Seth Wins Cherry Circle CircleHandicap Handicap With Chaff Second and Sanola Unplaced AURORA 111 May 28 The Jones Stock Farm Stables threeyearold colt Sergeant Seth accounted for the Cherry Circle Handi ¬ cap principal attraction offered by the Ex ¬ position Park Jockey Club at the Aurora course this afternoon The Dearborn Stables Chaff took second place easily and eight lengths back of the leaders came Fannie May in third place defeating the favorite Sanola for that place by a length getting the better of her in a hard final drive driveSergeant Sergeant Seth proved fastest from the start and set a good pace Chaff followed closely and gaining ground gradually reached the flank of the winner near the end but was unable to overhaul him and had to be con ¬ tent with saving second place The duel for third place was staged by Fannie May and Sanola almost throughout the entire journey The pair racing closely lapped with Sanola leading Fannie May at some stages and then vice versa When it came to the final drive Fannie May outstayed her and vanquished her for third place in the last few yards Sanolas performance was disappointing to say the least as she was backed into over ¬ whelming favoritism and marked the first favorite to fail during the afternoon afternoonADVENTURESS ADVENTURESS SCORES AGAIN AGAINThe The consistent Adventuress racing for M Simons added another win to her credit when she took the measure of the band of sprinters which tried conclusions in the initial race a dash of threequarters under claiming con ¬ ditions Adventuress ruled a heavy favorite in the field of ten which started being backed almost to the exclusion of the others and she made good in handy fashion E E Majors Slow Time gave a creditable performance and finished in second place being close up on the leader at the finish Clem Theisen ran well throughout and wound up in third place placeJockey Jockey A Pendergrass who began pro ¬ ceedings auspiciously by piloting Adventuress winner in the first race of the afternoon came back strong in the following race and putting up another fine ride outgen ¬ eraled the other jockeys and brought home Shasta Grande in front at the end of the mile and seventy yards Tromping To Day made the pace to near the end but ran out on most of the turns entailing a serious loss of ground He then began tiring in the stretch when Pendergrass brought Shasta Grande up in a strong challenge and succumbed to the latters rush Shasta Grande drew clear in the last seventy yards and easily won by a safe margin at the end Power just lasted for third place in the final strides stridesAfter After favorites had annexed the first two races in rather easy fashion another public choice scored in the third and made it three in a row for the followers of form This race was also at a mile and seventy yards and the running witnessed Private Seth well sup ¬ ported in the betting returned the easiest win ¬ ner of the afternoon Private Seth assumed the lead rounding the first turn and increas ing his advantage gradually thereafter then began drawing away from his opponents with ridiculous ease in the stretch to score in a canter by ten lengths Foolscap held second place safe at the end after having raced in that position most of the way wayFAVORITES FAVORITES TO THE FORE FOREFavorites Favorites continued merrily on their win ¬ ning way when E E Majors Take A Chance backed to the exclusion of the others in the fourth race a dash of five and a half fur ¬ longs for six of the better grade performers was an easy winner Take A Chance an oddson choice was hustled into a long lead by his rider in the first half mile of the race and was far in the lead in the stretch He began tiring near the end but his advantage was too great to permit any of the others overtaking him and he easily held the race safe to the end outrunning Ball Gee to Uie finish by a length Ball Gee finished with a rush and though unable to catch the winner outfinished the remainder remainderThe The consistent Be Yourself racing in his best form scored another victory for the fa ¬ vorites wlien he was returned an easy win ¬ ner In the sixth race at a mile and an eighth Jockey A Pendergrass rode the winner and it marked his third winner of the afternoon Street Liz ridden by jockey T Root came close to causing a bad jam on the first turn when Street Liz was forced up on the inside by her rider bumping jamming Sweeptona Ssgamook and Norseman together all but causing a spill She eventually wound up in second place whileTea Tray was awarded third place
