LONG SHOT DAY AT OMAHA Several Winners at Ak-Sar-Ben Field Pay Good Dividends Whirlwind Surprises. OMAHA, Neb., June 29. Todays program at Ak-Sar-Ben Field was devoid of any special feature but, nevertheless, a fine week-day crowd was present to view the seven claiming contests that were run off. The weather continued very warm and the track was lightning fast. Whirlwind provided the surprise of the day, when he won the fourth race at long odds. This gelding is barred on almost every track in the country, and for that reason the. public gave him little chance. Starter Donovan got him away, after a short delay, and he soon dashed to the front and, opening a commanding lead, was never headed. It was long shot day. Mr. Pat, winner of the first race, paid ?39, and Charles Whitney, the successful one in the fifth race, ?27. Malacha, at 1, in the second, and Frank Light, at , in the third race, were other good priced winners on the card.
