SLIPPER KING, on the outside entering the stretch, could not get up. AUNT FLOR tired near the finish. HAWK MOTH quit under urging. SLEUTH was outrun early. HATBROOM jumped well and showed speed under steady restraint and, disposing of ROONEY when ready, drew away, winning with speed to spare. FORBIS, a trailer for a turn and a half of the field, moved up steadily, but could not overhaul the winner. ROONEY forced the pace from the start, but tired badly after a mile and a half.
