COOLEY, away fast, drew away rapidly on the. turn and tiring badly, just lasted. HER GOLD began slowly, raced wide throughout and, closing strongly, was wearing down the winner. PHALAROPE, a factor throughout, held on well. BOSOM PAL, under strong urging in the final five-sixteenths, tired in the closing eighth. GAY FOLLIES was in close quarters in the first half mile and could not get up. FIRE STAR, away fast but unable to keep up, was in close quarters on the stretch turn. NIGHT JASMINE, under light restraint until reaching the stretch, responded well when called on and, wearing down STROLL ALONG, won under vigorous hand riding. The latter had good speed under hustling tactics, could not withstand the winner, but held on fairly well. HOUR ZEV had no mishaps and went gamely in the final drive. LE BRUYERE, away slowly and blocked on the far turn, made up some ground in the stretch. TEMPLE DANCER lost ground. FLAGHORN, away slowly and taken back near the tu-o. where she went to the inside, bore in badly in the stretch and did not threaten. TERALICE, taken back repeatedly, closed well and overtook NORTH MILL in the final stride. The latter showed good speed, could not withstand the winner, but was under good riding and held on well. FANFERN had no mishaps. MARTIE FLYNN, taken back at the start, saved ground on the turn, but was never a serious factor. FRENCH KNIGHT and BONNY MAUREEN quit. JOURNEYS END raced wide. The latter forced a good pace, withstood pressure gamely and, while failing to withstand the winner, held on fairly well. RED ROAMER, poorly ridden and twice forced back when trying to get through on the inside, would have been a much stronger factor under better handling.
