CRABTREE, close to the early pace, saved ground on the railall the way, came through on the inside rounding the lar turn, steadily drew out and won cased up. BLIMEY, up with the pacemaker for the first half mile, was forced wide on the stretch turn, came with a rush through the stretch, but could never get to the winner. DORMIDO came through between horses on the far turn and was going very fast at the end. MINT BIRD, on the extreme outside on the back stretch, came through an opening in the stretch and closed gamely in the last eighth. GROSSMONT closed some ground in the stretch. SCHOLAR BOY tired in the final drive. VIRGINIA BOND set the early pace, then tired badly in the last eighth. The others were never dangerous. PRETTY ELLEN ran head and head with the pacemaker to midway of the stretch, then drew away to win by a safe margin. SHORT PRICE; taken off the early pace, steadily gained on the leaders, came to the outside entering the stretch and was gaining on the winner at the finish. NO NO raced to the front soon after the start, led by a slight margin to the stretch, then tired in the final drive. WOODEN SOLDIER came from far back in the first quarter, but could not reach the leaders, though going well at the end. ARLINE O. could never get up. SHIFT showed some early speed, but tired.
