LAURA S. had the advantage at the start, broke fast, lacked speed to maintain the lead, was subjected to severe punishment while gaining gradually and was doing" her best to hold her advantage. ANNS BABY laced clear early, continued gamely thereafter, but could not resist the winner. COURANT began well, raced forwardly throughout and closed gamely under strong pressure. NEWELS CHOICE tired after racing promi-nentlv to the final eighth. EXONERATE raced well. MAUDE G. was outrun. NICKS GAL raced evenly. " FRIENDLY ANN was blocked sharply on the turn. CREOLE BEAUTY ran out, taking COUNTESS BYE with her, which eliminated both of them. BOOF was eased when he failed to keep up. Overweight Laura S., 2 pounds; Friendly Ann, 2; Boof, I5. CATWALK disposed of FLANUDE early, drew out thereafter, continued under clever rating and won with something to spare. RUFFDAY, a strong contender throughout, offered good contention, but was no match for the winner. TEMPLE DANCER, given a listless ride, was taken far out of contention early, permitted to remain far back until reaching the stretch, then moved up fast on his own courage. BOBBIE R. raced well under a hustling ride. BAKU was outrun. FLANUDE raced well for a half mile, then tired. BUDDYS CHOICE was almost thrown soon after the start when caught in close quarters and raced far back thereafter. MONTARIS raced well for a half mile, then quit. IRFANEH, closer up than usual, responded gamely to strong riding, took command inside the final sixteenth, but just lasted to withstand the belated rush of OUR SIS. The latter improved her position gradually, closed fastest and probably would have won in another stride. HARMONICAL began slowly, but finished with good courage. WESTYS TWINKLE and MODERN LASH quit. DEWHURST had no excuse. SPORTING LADY was outrun and pulled up lame; KING CHEROKEE quit. EQUATION could not keep up. POSITIVE PEARL, fractious at the post, raced well for three-eighths. JUDGE URBAN, cleverly rated, reached contention after a half mile, gained gradually thereafter, wore j down DUSKY LASS and won going away. The latter disposed of NEWSHAWK early, continued in the lead under mild reserve, raced wide entering the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. LE MINISTRE, slow to get going, was far out of contention to the stretch, came fast thereafter and closed resoluely. ABSTAIN failed to be dangerous under strong riding. CASSADA had no excuse. GRECIAN KING raced well to the final eighth, then tired. NEWSHAWK quit. CASSADA, DUSKY LASS and LE MINISTRE delayed the start. Scratched 10480 Dandy Dan, 107; 10159 Transfix, 102. The latter gained steadily, offered strong contention and was getting to the winner nearing the finish. DARKEST HOUR, sent into command early, raced well to the approach of the stretch, then gave way gradually. MUFF, given a listless ride, was taken out of it at the start and raced on her own courage thereafter. EASY BID could .not keep up under strong pressure. INDIANCE DANCE raced poorly. NORTHERN SIR quit badly in the final stages. JOLLY RAMBLER was eased when eliminated. CARDINAL JACK was eased early.
